TUCO CHEFS CHALLENGE TEAMS WILL STOCK UP WITH MAJOR
Delegates and competitors from TUCO universities and colleges all over the UK will be taking part in the 16th annual Competitions and Training Event at Blackpool Catering College, one of the largest events in the TUCO calendar.
One of the most eagerly awaited competition’s at the event is the TUCO Chef’s Challenge. Up to twenty teams of three will pit their skills against one another for the opportunity to win the coveted Gold Award. The award winners will each receive a gold medal, certificate, trophy and £900.
Each team will have two hours to prepare a four course meal for four covers to include amuse bouche, starter, main course and dessert. In at least one of the above dishes, teams must include stock from leading stocks and sauces manufacturer, Major International.
Major International managing director David Bryant comments: “We are delighted to be supporting the prestigious Chef’s Challenge for the third year. The superb quality of food presented by the teams always demonstrates that university catering can compete with any other sector of the industry.
“Entrants can use either Major stock base powder which are ideal for soups, sauces and gravies or Major concentrated stock bases which are made from the finest ingredients and are extremely versatile giving chefs the option to dilute, mix-in or even brush-on to meat, fish, poultry or vegetables. They are quick and convenient to use, with a choice of 18 flavours allowing chefs to create outstanding results whilst saving on time and the cost of ingredients. We are looking forward to seeing just how inventive the teams will be.”
All teams taking part in the Chefs Challenge will receive a branded Major goody bag packed full of a selection of products from across the Major portfolio.
Major International’s concentrated paste stocks and powder stocks are among the lowest-salt ranges on the foodservice market and free from MSG, artificial colours, flavours, preservatives and are suitable for Coeliacs.
