Leicester College On Board for the Major Series 2018

Following the successful Midlands Heat of the Craft Guild Major Series, Leicester will be the latest college to #takeupthechallenge in 2018
The Craft Guild Major Series is due to get bigger in 2018 thanks to increased interest from colleges across the nation.  A competition which has continued to grow year on year, no more so was this apparent than in the recent Midlands Heat of the Major Series.  Joining hosts Henley College this year were City of Liverpool College, North Warwickshire and Hinckley College and newcomers, Loughborough College, proving to be the largest turnout to date.

Visiting on the day, Programme Area Manager for Leicester College, David Thomas, was quick to affirm that they would be the next college to get on board in 2018. “Whilst we were not able to take part this year, for reasons of our own schedule, having had the pleasure of witnessing the Series first hand today, we will definitely be taking up the challenge in 2018. Not only is this competition a great way for our students to dip their toes into the culinary competition arena and to share practice but helps boost that healthy sense of competition amongst the colleges in the area.”

As a competition which champion’s young aspiring talent, the chefs of the future Major are keen to encourage even more to get involved. “As a company who have historically worked hand-in-hand with the industry and its organisations, we understand how demanding it can be. This is why the Major Series has always been one of the ways we try to give something back. It is important to invest in up and coming talent and we are currently investigating more ways to ensure that colleges will get behind their students and bring them to compete,” were the encouraging words from Major’s MD David Bryant.
